Recently I had the privilege of helping the family you see here below sell their home. This was bittersweet for a number of reasons – the main one being that they are dear friends and were moving out of state. However, anyone who knows the Simpson family would agree that they make everything more fun – even the often stressful task of selling a home. We exchanged much laughter and a few tears in the process.
I wasn’t at all surprised when – at closing – Rob and Katy chose Meghan’s Wish as our Seven Sent cause. Over the last 3 years, the Simpson family has grown by two little lives through the beautifully difficult gift of adoption via foster care. Our family watched in awe as God put the pieces in place to make all this happen. The home below holds many memories for this sweet family – a lot of firsts, for sure.
As a result of their choice, we were able to partner with Meghan’s Wish again and provide 20 pairs of pajamas, undergarments for 14 children, and 36 tubes of toothpaste. Each of these items will go into a backpack and be given to a child when they are placed into a foster care family here in Colorado. For a number of reasons, this is quite a traumatic event. Giving these kids a backpack with necessary items they can call their very own is a means of letting them know they are seen and loved. This opportunity was all the more meaningful because Rob and Katy’s family knows the difficulties of foster care intimately.
